This generally seems like a better name, especially if we somehow also
need a better name for "read the entire buffer, but not the entire file"
somewhere down the line.
This will make it easier to support both string types at the same time
while we convert code, and tracking down remaining uses.
One big exception is Value::to_string() in LibJS, where the name is
dictated by the ToString AO.
We have a new, improved string type coming up in AK (OOM aware, no null
state), and while it's going to use UTF-8, the name UTF8String is a
mouthful - so let's free up the String name by renaming the existing
class.
Making the old one have an annoying name will hopefully also help with
quick adoption :^)
Each of these strings would previously rely on StringView's char const*
constructor overload, which would call __builtin_strlen on the string.
Since we now have operator ""sv, we can replace these with much simpler
versions. This opens the door to being able to remove
StringView(char const*).
No functional changes.
This commit moves the length calculations out to be directly on the
StringView users. This is an important step towards the goal of removing
StringView(char const*), as it moves the responsibility of calculating
the size of the string to the user of the StringView (which will prevent
naive uses causing OOB access).
Previously the netstat utility crashed when LookupServer wasn't running
because it tried to unveil nonexistent /tmp/portal/lookup socket. This
commit fixes that.
Previously netstat would print the whole line of an ip address or
resolved hostname. If the hostname was longer than the address column
length, it would push following columns into disaligned output.
This sets the default behavior to truncate any IP address or symbolic
hostname that is larger than the maximum address column size to provide
cleaner output. In the event the user wishes to see the whole address
name, they can then pass the wide option that will output as wide as
necessary to print the whole name.
Also add slightly richer parse errors now that we can include a string
literal with returned errors.
This will allow us to use TRY() when working with JSON data.
Adds netstat command line argument to display slash-separated pair of
the id and name of the process that owns the socket. User must have
superuser privileges to see information on non-owned sockets.
This implementation of netstat presents an overview of existing network
sockets. It directly reads the exposed sockets from /proc/net/. Current
support is limited to information regarding TCP and UDP connections.
Future improvements could include presenting information regarding
local sockets.
