3b0a84b33b Added email_recipient_filter column to posts table
no-issue

This column will allow us to decouple the recipients of newsletter from
the `visibility` of a post, allowing us to send emails to specifically
free members, or to send paid posts as newsletters to all members.

Enabled Portal (#12317)
no refs

[Portal](https://github.com/TryGhost/Portal) is a new drop-in script to make the bulk of Ghost membership features work on any theme out of the box, which was under a developer flag so far. This release removes the flag for Portal and makes it included as default for any members-enabled Ghost site. The Portal script is backward compatible with old public members script and existing Members-enabled themes should notice no change.

- Removes Portal config flag as Portal is now enabled by default
- Removes old members script as Portal is backward compatible with it
- Changes `{{content}}` helper to show default CTA in case of restricted content access
- `accent_color` setting is no more behind the dev experiment flag and included by default
- Adds migration to switch off Portal button setting for all existing sites which don't have Portal enabled in beta

Added migration to store from/reply-to values in email table (#12204)
no issue

The email table should be a reference for all data that was used when sending an email. From and Reply-to addresses can change over time and we don't have any other reference for their value at the time of sending an email so we should store them alongside the email content.

- schema updated with `from` and `reply_to` columns
- both are set to `nullable` because we don't have historic data (can be populated and changed in later migrations if needed)
- neither `from` or `reply_to` have `isEmail` validations because they can have name+email in an email-specific format
- will help keep concerns separated in the future. `mega` service can deal with all of the email contents/properties, and the `bulk-email` service's concerns are then only email sending and any provider-specific needs

a862a58b5f Updated the tokens table to have 32 char tokens

After discussion with Matt, we decided that 192 bits for the token is a
good number, as it has no padding when base64 encoded and is more secure
than 128 bits, whilst still a managable size.

no-issue

This is a table to store single use tokens for use in magic links, the
columns are as simple as possible at the moment and are designed as:
id - standard ObjectID like all of our tables
token - 128bit base64 encoded string
data - arbitrary data to store against the token
created_at - timestamp to allow for expiry to be implemented for tokens

Added schema+migration for email_{batches,recipients} tables (#12192)
no issue

We want to store a list of recipients for each bulk email so that we have a consistent set of data that background processing/sending jobs can work from without worrying about moving large data sets around or member data changing mid-send.

- `email_batches` table acts as a join table with status for email<->email_recipient
  - stores a provider-specific ID that we get back when submitting a batch for sending to the bulk email provider
  - `status` allows for batch-specific status updates and picking up where we left off when submitting batches if needed
  - explicitly tying a list of email recipients to a batch allows for partial retries
- `email_recipients` table acts as a join table for email<->member
  - `member_id` does not have a foreign key constraint because members can be deleted but does have an index so that we can efficiently query which emails a member has received
  - stores static copies of the member info present at the time of sending an email for consistency in background jobs and auditing/historical data

752c1022f9 🐛 Fixed failing migration from <2.34 to 3.29
closes https://github.com/TryGhost/Ghost/issues/12129

Migrations were failing when upgrading from a version that didn't include stripe member subscriptions table. The `up` migration was checking for the existence of a unique index that was added to the schema in 3.29 but it was using the wrong variable name which meant that it would never return true for an existing index. For most migrations this worked because the index existed but when through 2.34 the table was created from scratch and did included the index at that point.

- fixed variable name and re-ordered variable assignment for better code locality that would have made the typo more visible

Added migration to create indexes and constraints for member tables (#12108)
no issue

For large numbers of members we're unable to perform queries for free/paid members in a reasonable time without indexes. Bulk delete is also very slow when looping through bookshelf models and having bookshelf manage deletion of child records, adding `ON DELETE CASCADE` to the foreign key indexes moves child deletion to the DB level and allows for performant bulk delete queries.

- migrations only run on mysql because sqlite does not support altering tables
- adds foreign key indexes and constraints with 'ON DELETE CASCADE' for members_labels, members_stripe_customers, and members_stripe_customers_subscriptions

Cleaned up members_stripe_* tables on MySQL (#12103)
refs #12100

For performance reasons we want to add foreign key and unique constraints
to the members_stripe_* tables so we can utilised cascading deletes and
joins across the tables when querying.

In order to do this we must first ensure that:
- There are no duplicate entries in the `subscription_id` or `customer_id` columns
- There are no orphaned rows in the subscription or customers tables

If the first is not true, the unique constraint will fail, and if the second is not true,
the foreign key constraint will fail.

As we are only adding the indexes to existing MySQL databases at this point, the
cleanup migrations will also only be done for existing MySQL databases too.

The migrations for removing orphaned rows splits the deletion into a `SELECT`
followed by a `WHERE IN` to avoid the database "optimising" the query into a
`JOIN` which ends up taking much longer due to the lack of indexes.

Added support for ON DELETE CASCADE to the schema (#12105)
no-issue

We are in the process of creating migrations to add foreign key constraints
and cascading deletes to the members_stripe_* tables to make listing members
and deleting members faster. As well as the migrations we need to update the
database schema so that new installations have the correct indexes and constraints.

Improved settings validation (#12048)
closes #12001

* Moved settings validation to the model

This moves the settings validation out of the validation file and into
the model, as it is _only_ used there.

It also sets us up in the future for custom validators on individual
settings.

* Improved validation of stripe_plans setting

- Checks `interval` is a valid string
- Checks `name` & `currency` are strings

* Moved stripe key validation into model

The stripe key settings are all nullable and the regex validation fails
when the input is `null`. Rather than reworking the entirety of how we
validate with default-settings validation objects, this moves the
validation into methods on the Settings model.

* Added tests for new setting validations

Adds tests for both valid and invalid settings, as well as helpers
making future tests easier and less repetitive

f45198245f Updated Settings.populateDefaults() to account for available columns
refs https://github.com/TryGhost/Ghost/issues/10318

`Settings.populateDefaults()` is run before migrations during Ghost's startup. This can cause problems when new settings table columns are added (and populated in `default-settings.json`) because `populateDefaults()` was using the model layer which assumes that those columns are available, resulting in `ER_BAD_FIELD_ERROR: Unknown column` type errors.

- query the database for the available `settings` table columns
- switch to using raw knex queries without Bookshelf for insertions so that we're in control of the columns that are added
- use `_.pick` to skip any properties in `default-settings.json` that do not match to an available column - those columns will be added and populated by later migrations
- moving away from using the model to insert settings has the side-effect of not emitting `settings.added/edited` and `settings.x.added/edited` events, this should be fine because `populateDefaults()` is called before anything else is set up and listening
- added a call to `populateDefaults()` in our knex-migrator "before migration" hook so that we have consistent db state across both startup initialised migrations and manually triggered knex migrations

Added migration to populate settings.{group, flags} (#11954)
refs https://github.com/TryGhost/Ghost/issues/10318

- maps old `settings.type` values to new `settings.type/group` values
  - uses an explicit map so that we don't lose information and can safely roll back even though we're modifying `settings.type` too
  - updates `settings.type` values too to keep code working while we switch to using `settings.group`
- sets the `settings.group` value for all settings which are keeping the same group as their current type
- adapts `settings.type` validations to match new groups
- adds flags to specific settings, both in the migration for existing settings records and in default-settings.json for new settings records

Added migration to add settings.{group, flags} columns (#11951)
refs https://github.com/TryGhost/Ghost/issues/10318

- `group`
  - to replace the `type` column, provides a more descriptive name for the columns use
  - for existing sites it will be populated by migrating data from the `type` column in a later migration
  - for new sites a minimal update has been added to `parseDefaultSettings()` to populate the `group` field when settings are created during startup - fixes the NOT NULL constraint on `settings.group`
- `flags`
  - signifies special handling that is different to other settings in a group
  - eg, `PUBLIC,RO` would indicate that the setting is available via unauthenticated endpoints and is read-only

d246a4761e Implemented externally verifiable identity tokens
no-issue

This adds two new endpoints, one at /ghost/.well-known/jwks.json for exposing
a public key, and one on the canary api /identities, which allows the
Owner user to fetch a JWT.

This token can then be used by external services to verify the domain

* Added ghost_{public,private}_key settings

This key can be used for generating tokens for communicating with
external services on behalf of Ghost

* Added .well-known directory to /ghost/.well-known

We add a jwks.json file to the .well-known directory which exposes a
public JWK which can be used to verify the signatures of JWT's created
    by Ghost

This is added to the /ghost/ path so that it can live on the admin
domain, rather than the frontend. This is because most of its
uses/functions will be in relation to the admin domain.

* Improved settings model tests

This removes hardcoded positions in favour of testing that a particular
event wasn't emitted which is less brittle and more precise about what's
    being tested

* Fixed parent app unit tests for well-known

This updates the parent app unit tests to check that the well-known
route is mounted. We all change proxyquire to use `noCallThru` which
ensures that the ubderlying modules are not required. This stops the
initialisation logic in ./well-known erroring in tests

https://github.com/thlorenz/proxyquire/issues/215

* Moved jwt signature to a separate 'token' propery

This structure corresponds to other resources and allows to exptend with
additional properties in future if needed

Since we added `email_subject` to `posts_meta` table in `3.1`, the migration tries to add `email_subject` column from post table, which does not exist and thus tries adding `undefined` value for column. Since sqlite expects default values while inserting new columns, this breaks any migration directly from `1.x`/`2.x` to 3.x.

The fix adds a default `null` value for any post_schema entry which doesn't has a value.

Added member's subscription cancellation helper {{cancel_link}} (#11434)
no issue

- The helper allows generating HTML needed to cancel or continue the member's subscription depending on subscription state.
- Added public members endpoint to allow updating subscription's `cancel_at_period_end` attribute available at: `PUT /api/canary/members/subscriptions/:id/`
- Added client-side hook to allow calling subscription cancellation. Allows to create elements with `data-members-cancel-subscription` / `data-members-continue-subscription` attributes which would call subscription update.
- Updated schema and added migration for `current_period_end` column
- As discussed we only add a single column to subscriptions table to avoid preoptimizing for future cases
- Added {{cancel_link}} helper
- Added error handling for {{cancel_link}} when members are disabled
- Added test coverage for {{cancel_link}} helper
- Bumped @tryghost/members-api version to 0.10.2. Needed to use `updateSubscription` middleware
- Bumped gscan to 3.2.0. Needed to recognize new {{cancel_link}} helper

Improved mega error handling (#11393)
no issue

- Increased default mailgun retry limit to 5
- Handling retry logic closer to SDK layer gives less future manual handling
- Allowed failing request to be passed through to the caller
- To be able to handle failed requests more gracefully in the future we need all available error information to be given to the caller
- The previous method with `Promise.all` would have rejected a whole batch without providing details on each specific batch.
- Limited data returned with a failed message to batch values
- Added better error handling on mega layer
- Added new column to store failed batch info
- Added reference to mailgan error docs
- Refactored batch emailer to respond with instances of an object
- It's hard to reason about the response type of bulk mailer when multiple object types can be returned
- This gives more clarity and ability to check with `instanceof` check

- The only place where I could find a hard limit of 1000 emails per

- To store ids of sent messages introduce a mega column on the emails table. They can be synced with stats or other metrics during even pooling in the future
- Removed redundant `join(',')` statement. The SDK accepts an array of emails as well. Less code - better code :)

9b347d6d95 🐛 Fixed 3.0 migration on SQLite with many posts (#11302)
refs https://github.com/TryGhost/Ghost/pull/11270

- Fixed 3.0/11-update-posts-html migration which failed in scenario when more than 999 posts with posts_meta relation were present
- The issue was originally spotted here: https://github.com/TryGhost/Ghost/pull/11270#issuecomment-546248308
- The main problem is in the `SELECT` statement which is generated for `findAll` method in Bookshelf which creates `WHERE IN(post_ids_here)` statement with all posts in the database
- Using knex directly as that's a preferred way to write migrations (does not depend on the model layer)

Updated post model queries to raw knex queries (#11246)
no issue

We split `posts` table into 2 in v3 with a new `posts_meta` table. Since migrations always use the version of code which is being migrated to - in this case the Post model - which in v3 relies on the posts_meta table, `2.x` migrations relying on post model will fail as it doesn't exist in the expected state. This PR updates all 2.x migrations using `models.Post` to use knex queries directly to access database and perform operations.

customer_id has a max length of 255 https://stripe.com/docs/upgrades

member_id is not unique as we cannot ensure that a member doesn't have

We probably won't handle this case to begin with, but we will keep the

🏗 Extracted post metadata in new post_meta table (#11102)
NOTE: The post metadata table split is purely an internal optimization for v3 and doesn't require or expect any external actions including related API usage in v3

We keep running into issues adding new fields to the post table because there are too many fields making the post table "too wide". We have also hit MySQL limitations in how many bytes can be in a row (64kb) with post table.

In v3, we decided to split the 8 post fields (meta, twitter and og) used for meta data into a posts_meta table as these 8 fields are all "problem" `varchar` fields and make sense logically grouped together. The API layer is unaffected by the split as input/output serializers ensure the data flow works the same way as it was in v2. Only thing to note is json export in v3 will have slightly different structure with posts meta fields as separate.

- Creates new post_meta schema/table with 8 fields (2 meta_* , 3 twitter_* and 3 og_*)
- Update relations between post and post_meta table
- Update input/output serializers to keep existing API behavior
- Avoids new entry in post_meta table for post where all meta fields are null
- Keeps the current fields API param behavior
- Handles migration of existing posts to new table structure
- Updates importer/exporter to work seamlessly with table changes

f038fbe0aa Fixed "Unable to update nested relation" errors when rolling back migrations
no issue

- we recently started wrapping rollbacks in transactions (https://github.com/TryGhost/knex-migrator/pull/161)
- in a number of migrations we were calling `model.destroy()` without passing through the options which includes the current transaction
- for models which are using `bookshelf-relations` this could result in an internal `SQLITE_BUSY: database is locked` error because it tries to run queries against tables that have been locked by previous queries in the transaction
- by passing through the options when calling `.destroy()` it allows the `bookshelf-relations` to re-use the same transction avoiding the database lock problems

- Implemented scheduling for posts and pages
- Added cache invalidation when scheduling
- Refactored admin token eneration function to accept existing key as parameter in tests
- Added Ghost Scheduler Integration fixture
- Added fixture for permissions for post publish action
- Migrated getScheduled method to v2
- Did not add support for 'from' and 'to' parameters as they were not used by DefaultScheduler
- This method needs rethinking in a long run as it's an ugly hack and should rather become proper endpoint that returns JSON data instead of models
- Removed unused auth middleware from v2 routes
- Added internal scheduler role
- Implemetnted transactions in v2 frame
- This takes into account scenario mentioned in c93f03b87e
- Specifically:
>if two queries happening in a transaction we have to signalise
knex/mysql that we select for an update
  otherwise the following case happens:
you fetch posts for an update
a user requests comes in and updates the post (e.g. sets title to "X")
you update the fetched posts, title would get overriden to the old one

🐛 Fixed import for tag without slugs that belongs to a post (#10917)
closes #10785

- The behavior for tags will now be similar to posts' one described in the docs
- "The only strictly required field when importing posts is the title. Ghost will automatically generate slugs and set every other field to the default or empty."
- The breaking change was introduced with: 68d8154d4f (diff-e712df50c0dc7cf33746eeff0564003cR97) (assumed there's always slug in the imported object which is not true)
- Added originalIdMap to the importer base class to track id
substitution so it can be used when dealing with relational resource
updates
- Removed explicit use of 'this.stripProperties(['id']);' in
beforeImport of base class because we need to assign and remove the id
property in the same place to track this change
- Only calling 'this.stripProperties(['id']);' in
settings/trusted_domain imports as the method won't be called otherwise
- Expanded regression tests with new supported import case
