New status was chosen as a way to differenciate such posts. - Introducing a new "email post" type, conceptually like "page", was considered. Because there is no clear roadmap for "email post" becoming a bigger part of the product yet and a lot of uncertainty around this concept, overhead needed to introduce a new type was just too much to do at this moment.
