a17b10a14b subrepo: rewrite handling of subrepo state at commit (issue2403)
When the contents of .hgsubstate are stale (either because they've
manually been tweaked or partial updates have confused it), we get
confused about whether it actually needs committing.

So instead, we actively consult the parent's substate and compare it
the actual current state when deciding whether it needs committing.

Side effect: lots of "committing subrepo" messages that didn't
correspond with real commits disappear.

This change is fairly invasive for a fairly obscure condition, so it's
kept on the default branch.

902bee47a8 pull: return 1 when no changes found (BC)
Currently we have the following return codes if nothing is found:

                commit   incoming    outgoing      pull     push
intended           1        1           1            1       1
documented         1        1           1            0       1
actual             1        1           1            0       1

This makes pull agree with the rest of the table and makes it easy to
detect "nothing was pulled" in scripts.

f9ef6cf73b forget: support forgetting explicit paths in subrepos
Change the behavior of the forget command such that explicit paths in
subrepos are handled by forgetting the file in the subrepo. This eliminates the
previous behavior where if you called "hg forget" for an explicit path in a
subrepo, it would state that the file is already untracked.

acfa971cf1 subrepos: abort commit by default if a subrepo is dirty (BC)
This changeset flips the default value of ui.commitsubrepos setting
from True to False and adds a --subrepos flag to commit.

The commit, status, and diff commands behave like this with regard to
recusion and the ui.commitsubrepos setting:

          | recurses      | recurses
          | by default | with --subrepos
  --------+---------------+----------------
  commit: | commitsubrepo | True
  status: | False         | True
  diff:   | False         | True

By changing the default from True to False, the table becomes
consistent in the two columns:

* without --subrepos on the command line, commit will abort if a
  subrepo is dirty and status/diff wont show changes inside subrepos.

* with --subrepos, all three commands will recurse.

A --subrepos flag on the command line overrides the config settin.g

296a0c6305 add: support adding explicit files in subrepos
Change the behavior of the add command such that explicit paths in
subrepos are always added. This eliminates the previous behavior
where if you called "hg add" for an explicit path in a subrepo
without specifying the -S option, it would be silently ignored.
If you specify patterns, or no arguments at all, the -S option
will still be needed to activate recursion into subrepos.

1c143846c7 prepush: print short hash of first new head in abort message
and don't mention the branch if it's the default branch.

OLD:

  $ hg push ../a
  pushing to ../a
  searching for changes
  abort: push creates new remote heads on branch 'default'!
  (you should pull and merge or use push -f to force)

NEW:

  $ hg push ../a
  pushing to ../a
  searching for changes
  abort: push creates new remote head 1e108cc5548c!
  (you should pull and merge or use push -f to force)

This helps to identify which local head is causing troubles.

1d125c0477 subrepos: prompt on conflicts on update with dirty subrepos
Consider a repository with a single subrepository. The changesets in
the main repository reference the subrepository changesets like this:

  m0 -> s0
  m1 -> s1
  m2 -> s2

Starting from a state (m1, s0), doing 'hg update m2' in the main
repository will yield a conflict: the subrepo is at revision s0 but
the target revision says it should be at revision s2.

Before this change, Mercurial would do (m1, s0) -> (m2, s2) and thus
ignore the conflict between the working copy and the target revision.

With this change, the user is prompted to resolve the conflict by
choosing which revision he wants. This is consistent with 'hg merge',
which also prompts the user when it detects conflicts in the merged
.hgsubstate files.

The prompt looks like this:

  $ hg update tip
   subrepository sources for my-subrepo differ
  use (l)ocal source (fc627a69481f) or (r)emote source (12a213df6fa9)?

1e4894d773 commit: abort if a subrepo is modified and ui.commitsubrepos=no
The default behaviour is to commit subrepositories with uncommitted changes. In
my experience this is usually undesirable:

- Changes to dependencies are often debugging leftovers
- Real changes should generally be applied on the source project directly,
  tested then committed. This is not always possible, subversion subrepos may
  include only a small part of the source project, without the tests.

Setting ui.commitsubrepos=no will now abort commits containing such modified
subrepositories like:

  $ hg --config ui.commitsubrepos=no ci -m msg
  abort: uncommitted changes in subrepo sub

I ruled out the hook solution because it does not easily take --include/exclude
options in account. Also, my main concern is whether this flag could cause
problems with extensions. If there are legitimate reasons for callers to
override this behaviour (I could not find any), they might either override at ui
level, or we could add an argument to localrepo.commit() later.

v2:
- Renamed ui.commitsubs to ui.commitsubrepos
- Mention the configuration entry in hg help subrepos

bf9e13d063 subrepo: make update -C clean the working directory for svn subrepos
This makes 'hg update --clean' behave the same way for both kinds of
subrepositories. Before Subversion subrepos did not take the clean
parameter into account, but just updated to the given revision and
merged uncommitted changes into that.

15da3ac7f2 pull: silence spurious 'requesting all changes' message
When issuing `hg pull -r REV` in a repo with no common ancestor with the
remote repo, the message 'requesting all changes' is printed, even though only
the changese that are ancestors of REV are actually requested. This can be
confusing for users (see
http://www.selenic.com/pipermail/mercurial/2010-October/035508.html).

This silences the message if (and only if) the '-r' option was passed.

b5fe0d906e tests: add glob matching for unified tests
This adds a " (glob)" marker that works like a simpler version of
(re): "*" is converted to ".*", and "?" is converted to ".".

Both special characters can be escaped using "\", and the backslash
itself can be escaped as well.

Other glob-style syntax, like "**", "[chars]", or "[!chars]", isn't
supported.

7d7d96bd74 tests: require regexes in unified tests to be marked with " (re)"
Consider this test:

  $ hg glog --template '{rev}:{node|short} "{desc}"\n'
  @  2:20c4f79fd7ac "3"
  |
  | o  1:38f24201dcab "2"
  |/
  o  0:2a18120dc1c9 "1"

Because each line beginning with "|" can be compiled as a regular
expression (equivalent to ".*|"), they will match any output.

Similarly:

  $ echo foo

The blank output line can be compiled as a regular expression and will
also match any output.

With this patch, none of the above output lines will be matched as
regular expressions. A line must end in " (re)" in order to be matched
as one.

Lines are still matched literally first, so the following will pass:

  $ echo 'foo (re)'
  foo (re)

efe9b04aef subrepo: create subrepos using clone instead of pull
Subrepositories used to be created empty and then filled with data
using pull. This is wasteful when you do a clone from a local source
since it means that no hardlinks are created for the subrepos.

This patch make the hgsubrepo._get method check for an empty subrepo
and in that case do a clone instead of a pull. This brings in the same
data as before, but creates hardlinks when possible.
