copilot: Colocate copilot_chat_config_path with the rest of the Copilot code (#15703)
This PR moves the `copilot_chat_config_path` out of `paths` and into

Since this doesn't actually return a Zed path, it doesn't belong in

Add GitHub Copilot Chat Support (#14842)
# Summary

This commit implements Github Copilot Chat support within the existing
Assistant panel/framework. It required a little bit of trickery and
internal API modification, as Copilot doesn't use the same
authentication-style as all of the existing providers, opting to use
OAuth and a short lived API key instead of a straight API key. All
existing Assistant features should work.

- Added Github Copilot Chat support

paths: Replace lazy_static! with OnceLock (#13213)
This PR replaces the `lazy_static!` usages in the `paths` crate with
`OnceLock` from the standard library.

This allows us to drop the `lazy_static` dependency from this crate.

The paths are now exposed as accessor functions that reference a private
static value.

Extract paths out of util (#13182)
This PR extracts the definition of the various Zed paths out of `util`
and into a new `paths` crate.

`util` is for generic utils, while these paths are Zed-specific. For

these paths, since they are only used by Zed.

Remove dependencies from the Worktree crate and make it more focused (#12747)
The `worktree` crate mainly provides an in-memory model of a directory
and its git repositories. But because it was originally extracted from
the Project crate, it also contained lingering bits of code that were
outside of that area:
* it had a little bit of logic related to buffers (though most buffer
management lives in `project`)
* it had a *little* bit of logic for storing diagnostics (though the
vast majority of LSP and diagnostic logic lives in `project`)
* it had a little bit of logic for sending RPC message (though the
*receiving* logic for those RPC messages lived in `project`)

In this PR, I've moved those concerns entirely to the project crate
(where they were already dealt with for the most part), so that the
worktree crate can be more focused on its main job, and have fewer
dependencies.

Worktree no longer depends on `client` or `lsp`. It still depends on
`language`, but only because of `impl language::File for
worktree::File`.

This will throw off the past results for accepted / dismissed that I was
wanting to use to evaluate Supermaven quality, by comparing its rate
with copilot's rate.

I'm not super thrilled with this fix, but I think it'll do. In the
`supermaven_completions_provider`, we check if there's a `completion_id`
before sending either an accepted or discard completion event. I don't
see a similar construct in the `copilot_completions_provider` to
piggyback off of, so I begrudgingly introduced
`should_allow_event_to_send` and had it follow the same pattern that
`completion_id` does. Maybe there's a better way?

Make border methods always require an explicit width (#11450)
This PR makes the `border` methods require an explicit width instead of
defaulting to 1px.

This breaks convention with Tailwind, but it makes GPUI more consistent
with itself. We already have an edge case where the parameterized method
had to be named `border_width`, since `border` was taken up by an alias
for the 1px variant.

### Before

```rs
div()
    .border()
    .border_t()
    .border_r()
    .border_b()
    .border_l()
    .border_width(px(7.))
### After
div()
Improve the ergonomics of creating local buffers (#10347)
This PR renames `language::Buffer::new` to `language::Buffer::local` and
simplifies its interface. Instead of taking a replica id (which should
always be 0 for the local case) and a `BufferId`, which was awkward and
verbose to construct, it simply takes text and a `cx`.
It uses the `cx` to derive a `BufferId` from the `EntityId` associated
with the `cx`, which should always be positive based on the following
analysis...
We convert the entity id to a u64 using this method on `EntityId`, which
is defined by macros in the `slotmap` crate:
```rust
    pub fn as_ffi(self) -> u64 {
        (u64::from(self.version.get()) << 32) | u64::from(self.idx)
    }
```
If you look at the type of `version` in `KeyData`, it is non-zero:
```rust
#[derive(Clone, Copy, PartialEq, Eq, PartialOrd, Ord, Hash)]
pub struct KeyData {
    idx: u32,
    version: NonZeroU32,
}
```
This commit also adds `Context::reserve_model` and
`Context::insert_model` to determine a model's entity ID before it is
created, which we need in order to assign a `BufferId` in the background
when loading a buffer asynchronously.
Query code actions and hovers from all related local language servers (#9943)
Part of https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/7947 and
https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/9912 that adds makes Zed
query all related language servers instead of the primary one.
Collab clients are still querying the primary one only, but this is
quite hard to solve, https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/8634
drafts a part of it.
The local part is useful per se, as many people use Zed & Tailwind but
do not use collab features.
Unfortunately, eslint still returns empty actions list when queried, but
querying actions for all related language servers looks reasonable and
rare enough to be dangerous.
Fix issues with extension API that come up when moving Svelte into an extension (#9611)
We're doing it. Svelte support is moving into an extension. This PR
fixes some issues that came up along the way.
Notes
* extensions need to be able to retrieve the path the `node` binary
installed by Zed
* previously we were silently swallowing any errors that occurred while
loading a grammar
* npm commands ran by extensions weren't run in the right directory
* Tree-sitter's WASM stdlib didn't support a C function (`strncmp`)
needed by the Svelte parser's external scanner
* the way that LSP installation status was reported was unnecessarily
complex
Release Notes:
- Removed built-in support for the Svelte and Gleam languages, because
full support for those languages is now available via extensions. These
extensions will be suggested for download when you open a `.svelte` or
`.gleam` file.
Move Clippy configuration to the workspace level (#8891)
This PR moves the Clippy configuration up to the workspace level.
We're using the [`lints`
table](https://doc.rust-lang.org/cargo/reference/workspaces.html#the-lints-table)
to configure the Clippy ruleset in the workspace's `Cargo.toml`.
Each crate in the workspace now has the following in their own
`Cargo.toml` to inherit the lints from the workspace:
```toml
[lints]
workspace = true
```
This allows for configuring rust-analyzer to show Clippy lints in the
editor by using the following configuration in your Zed `settings.json`:
```json
{
  "lsp": {
    "rust-analyzer": {
      "initialization_options": {
        "check": {

Add initial support for defining language server adapters in WebAssembly-based extensions (#8645)
This PR adds **internal** ability to run arbitrary language servers via
WebAssembly extensions. The functionality isn't exposed yet - we're just
landing this in this early state because there have been a lot of
changes to the `LspAdapter` trait, and other language server logic.

## Next steps

* Currently, wasm extensions can only define how to *install* and run a
language server, they can't yet implement the other LSP adapter methods,
such as formatting completion labels and workspace symbols.
* We don't have an automatic way to install or develop these types of
extensions
* We don't have a way to package these types of extensions in our
extensions repo, to make them available via our extensions API.
* The Rust extension API crate, `zed-extension-api` has not yet been
published to crates.io, because we still consider the API a work in
progress.

Add command_palette_hooks crate (#8398)
This PR introduces a new `command_palette_hooks` crate that contains the
types used to hook into the behavior of the command palette.

The `CommandPaletteFilter` was previously extracted to the `copilot`
crate in #7095, solely because that was the earliest ancestor of the
crates that depended on it.

The `CommandPaletteInterceptor` was still defined in `command_palette`
itself.

Both of these types were consumed by other crates wanting to influence
the behavior of the command palette, but required taking a dependency on
the entire `command_palette` crate in order to gain access to these
hooks.

By moving them out into their own crate, we can improve the compile
order and make crates like `vim` able to begin building sooner without
having to wait for `command_palette` to finish compiling.

Here's a comparison of the compilation graph before and after (ignore

Detect and possibly use user-installed gopls / zls language servers (#8188)
After a lot of back-and-forth, this is a small attempt to implement
solutions (1) and (3) in
https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/7902. The goal is to have a
minimal change that helps users get started with Zed, until we have
extensions ready.

Release Notes:

- Added detection of user-installed `gopls` to Go language server
adapter. If a user has `gopls` in `$PATH` when opening a worktree, it
will be used.
- Added detection of user-installed `zls` to Zig language server
adapter. If a user has `zls` in `$PATH` when opening a worktree, it will
be used.

Example:

I don't have `go` installed globally, but I do have `gopls`:

```
~ $ which go
go not found
~ $ which gopls
/Users/thorstenball/code/go/bin/gopls
```

But I do have `go` in a project's directory:

```
~/tmp/go-testing φ which go
/Users/thorstenball/.local/share/mise/installs/go/1.21.5/go/bin/go
~/tmp/go-testing φ which gopls
/Users/thorstenball/code/go/bin/gopls
```

With current Zed when I run `zed ~/tmp/go-testing`, I'd get the dreaded
error:

![screenshot-2024-02-23-11 14
08@2x](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/assets/1185253/822ea59b-c63e-4102-a50e-75501cc4e0e3)

But with the changes in this PR, it works:

```
[2024-02-23T11:14:42+01:00 INFO  language::language_registry] starting language server "gopls", path: "/Users/thorstenball/tmp/go-testing", id: 1
[2024-02-23T11:14:42+01:00 INFO  language::language_registry] found user-installed language server for Go. path: "/Users/thorstenball/code/go/bin/gopls", arguments: ["-mode=stdio"]
[2024-02-23T11:14:42+01:00 INFO  lsp] starting language server. binary path: "/Users/thorstenball/code/go/bin/gopls", working directory: "/Users/thorstenball/tmp/go-testing", args: ["-mode=stdio"]
```

Copilot: handle "ok" status message when no user is set (#8116)
In #6954 a user has trouble using copilot. We haven't gotten to the
bottom of the problem, but one problem is that apparently sometimes (I'm
going to find out when) copilot sends an `"OK"` status message without a
username. This is from the user's logs:

2024-02-20T15:28:41-03:00 [ERROR] failed to deserialize response from
language server: missing field `user`. Response from language server:
"{\"status\":\"OK\"}"

The official `copilot.vim` plugin handles this as if the user is not
authenticated (!= authorized):

1a284014d2/autoload/copilot.vim (L574-L579)

So that's what I'm doing here too.

Release Notes:

- Fixed wrong handling of Copilot sign-in status in rare cases.

Fix gopls langserver downloads (#7571)
Fixes https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/7534 by not requiring
assets for gopls and vscode-eslint langservers — those two are the only
ones in Zed that do not use assets directly when determining langserver
version and retrieving those.
All other servers deal with assets, hence require those to be present.

The problem with https://github.com/tamasfe/taplo/releases is that they
host multiple binary releases in the same release list, so for now the
code works because only the langserver has assets — but as soon as
another release there gets assets, it will break again.
We could filter out those by names also, but they also tend to change
(and can be edited manually), so keeping it as is for now.
