 "AArch64" and "ARM64" refer to the same thing. AArch64 is the 64-bit state introduced in the [Armv8-A architecture](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARM_architecture_family#Armv8-A). The 32-bit state which is backwards compatible with Armv7-A and previous 32-bit Arm architectures is referred to as AArch32. Therefore the GNU triplet for the 64-bit ISA is aarch64. The Linux kernel community [chose](https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/7/6/624) to call their port of the kernel to this architecture arm64 rather than aarch64, so that's where some of the arm64 usage comes from. The Apple-developed backend for AArch64 was called "ARM64" whereas the LLVM community-developed backend was called "AArch64" (as it is the canonical name for the 64-bit ISA). Installation
You can download Zed today for macOS (v10.15+).
Support for additional platforms is on our roadmap:

For macOS users, you can also install Zed using Homebrew:
brew install --cask zed
Alternatively, to install the Preview release:
brew install --cask zed@preview

Licensing
License information for third party dependencies must be correctly provided for CI to pass.
We use cargo-about to automatically comply with open source licenses. If CI is failing, check the following:
- Is it showing a
no license specifiederror for a crate you've created? If so, addpublish = falseunder[package]in your crate's Cargo.toml. - Is the error
failed to satisfy license requirementsfor a dependency? If so, first determine what license the project has and whether this system is sufficient to comply with this license's requirements. If you're unsure, ask a lawyer. Once you've verified that this system is acceptable add the license's SPDX identifier to theacceptedarray inscript/licenses/zed-licenses.toml. - Is
cargo-aboutunable to find the license for a dependency? If so, add a clarification field at the end ofscript/licenses/zed-licenses.toml, as specified in the cargo-about book.
