201fef1c2e Create exception type for FUSE unmount-during-init
Summary:
FuseChannel::initialize throws runtime_error when the FUSE connection is interrupted. I want EdenMount::startFuse to handle unexpected-unmount errors from FuseChannel::initialize, but catching runtime_error would catch unrelated errors too.

When the FUSE connection is interrupted during initialization, make FuseChannel throw FuseDeviceUnmountedDuringInitialization instead of runtime_error.

92a8e3f59f Stop checking EventBase::runInEventBaseThread result
Summary:
[Folly] Stop checking `EventBase::runInEventBaseThread` result, as the function will soon be changed not to return any result.

It returned `false` when failing to enqueue a task. But it cannot really fail anyway besides allocation failure, unless in the `EventBase` destructor and while draining and the `AlwaysEnqueue` variant is called.

015c45872b split privhelper and privhelper_base
Summary:
We're not that far from building privhelper on mode/mac but it does
require figuring out how to depend on osxfuse from the Buck build, so
bypass that by breaking the inodes target's dependency on privhelper's
<fuse_ioctl.h> include.

c97631eba4 log sendInvalidateInode and sendInvalidateEntry calls and ENOENT errors
Summary:
When debugging Eden's behavior under a kernel that caches readdir
calls, I observed that directories were not returning the correct
entries after a checkout. The issue is that Eden calls INVAL_ENTRY
when new entries are added, but INVAL_ENTRY is a no-op and returns
ENOENT if the kernel doesn't know about that entry.

79b7db4d91 Make EventBase destruction callbacks safely cancellable
Summary: Currently, `runOnDestruction` aims to be thread-safe; new callbacks are added to the `onDestructionCallbacks_` list while the associated mutex is held. However, the caller may own the `LoopCallback` and wish to destroy/cancel it before the `EventBase` destructor runs, and this callback cancellation is not thread-safe, since unlinking does not happen under the lock protecting `onDestructionCallbacks_`. The primary motivation of this diff is to make on-destruction callback cancellation thread-safe; in particular, it is safe to cancel an on-destruction callback concurrently with `~EventBase()`.

2ba72dc18e eden: have priv helper load the fuse kext if needed
Summary:
This is something that is not needed on linux because
the kernel module is typically already loaded (at least on the systems
on which we run).

On macos, since fuse is not part of the kernel, libfuse has some code
that loads it when needed.

This diff performs the equivalent actions for eden.

1fac9783e3 eden: remove fuse request interrupt code, track requests by internal id
Summary:
This is really a continuation of D13479516; the issue is that
the osxfuse kernel module is very eager to recycle `unique` request
id values, recycling them before our code has had a chance to update
internal state.

This diff re-keys the requests map so that we generate our own sequence
of identifiers to use as the key rather than the fuse protocol `unique`
value.

Because we cannot reliably track by `unique` value we also cannot
reliably implement interrupt support.  We've never really tested
interrupt support, and it relies on functionality in folly futures
that hasn't really been tested or proven either, so I've removed
that functionality as part of this diff.

That allows simplifying some code in RequestData and FuseChannel;
we're now able to simply tack an `.ensure` on the end of the
future chain to ensure that we remove the entry from the map
once the future is resolved, successfully or otherwise.

54d86f2574 eden: fixup attributes with osxfuse
Summary:
the osxfuse implementation includes some additional
fields in the `fuse_attr` struct.  One of those fields is
`flags`.  We were not initializing this field when converting
the stat data to fuse attributes which resulted in it holding
"random" data.  In debug builds this seemed to usually end up
zeroed out but in release builds it was usually a bit pattern
that caused the kernel to respond with EPERM when attempting
to access the files.   I didn't capture exactly what that
bit pattern was, just that initializing the struct to zeroes
reliably fixed up the EPERM issues in the Release build.

09a27f492a debug logging (once) when ENODEV is received from the fuse device
Summary:
To determine the precise behavior of unmounting an Eden mount with
MNT_FORCE, I needed to see whether ENODEV was being returned from the
FUSE socket.

This helps us clarify the documentation in libfuse

8190b08254 eden: fixup some fuse version differences for osxfuse
Summary:
The fuse opcodes are defined as an enum so we have to use
the relatively coarse and indirect apple vs linux preprocessor
checks in the maps for the opcode names.

The osxfuse implementation branched off from the 7.19 fuse
implementation, so add a light dusting of some preprocessor
checks around enabling the performance optimization features
we desire on Linux.

We also need to relax the compile time check for the min
fuse version; I've constrained this to be apple specific,
although I suppose it wouldn't hurt to make it more broadly
applicable.

0774b2c457 eden: pull in osxfuse kernel headers
Summary:
There's nothing nice about this; the full set of kernel headers are
not installed with the binary distribution, and since the kernel distribution
has to be signed to be loaded on osx, there's no benefit to us building it
for ourselves.

This diff adds a nop builder and tweaks the cmake to point into the osxfuse
repo.

The osxfuse repo aggregates a couple of related repos using the git
submodule feature, so trigger that from getdeps.py too.

299e22d940 eden: avoid DCHECK in FuseChannel code on macOS
Summary:
It appears as though osxfuse is a bit eager to re-use `header->unique`
values, as this DCHECK to ensure that we erased our request at the end of a
request is frequently triggered.  It's not for 100% of requests, but I did
notice that the `header->unique` values tend to be in the range 1-6.

We don't check for collisions when we emplace requests in the dispatching
logic, and this particular check happens after we've acked the kernel, so it
doesn't seem like a safe thing to check and abort on really, so let's remove
it.

4ddda70198 unbreak open()
Summary:
D13325746 changed `EdenDispatcher::open()` to no longer return a file handle.
However the code in `FuseChannel::fuseOpen()` throws an exception if the
dispatcher does not create a file handle.  This breaks most file operations in
Eden.

The Dispatcher check is removed in D13354307, but that hasn't landed yet.
That change probably just needed to be part of D13325746.

c55edc9036 route readdir straight to TreeInode
Summary:
Send readdir requests to TreeInode. This may not sound like a good
idea: the FUSE documentation suggests that stateful directory handles
are required to implement correct readdir semantics under concurrent
deletes and renames. However, the 63-bit offset value is treated as a
cookie that is passed from one readdir call into the next, and 63 bits
should be sufficient to implement readdir concurrent with
rename/unlink. So move readdir's implementation into TreeInode in
preparation for the complete removal of TreeInodeDirHandle.

c6617a0649 don't route fsyncdir through DirHandle

84c5fe913d be explicit that we don't plan to use ATOMIC_O_TRUNC
Summary:
FUSE_NO_OPEN_SUPPORT is better than ATOMIC_O_TRUNC for Eden's use
case. Remove the code that pretended we might support ATOMIC_O_TRUNC
again someday.

a6b4e0f2ff add CacheHint parameters to FileInode reads
Summary:
The new blob cache wants to know, given a request, whether the blob is
expected to be needed or not. The answer, in general, is yes if the
request came from Thrift and no if it came from FUSE, because the kernel
will cache the result of the request in its own page and dentry caches.
Propagate this information through FileInode.

8fe62ce81b Add command to chown a mount

2904016208 cmake: fix the build when SELinux is available
Summary:
D9029272 (github commit fae2056037) accidentally broke the CMake-based
build of Eden when SELinux is available: it defined `PRIVHELPER_LIBS` but
later used `PRIVHELPER_LIBRARIES` (LIBS vs LIBRARIES).

This fixes that error by simply removing this intermediate variable.  We
can just use SELINUX_INCLUDE_DIR and SELINUX_LIBRARIES directly, as they
will simply be empty if SELinux is not available.

Eden supports reading the SHA-1 of a file via getxattr. Unfortunately,
it returned ENOSYS if you called getxattr on a directory inode. This
caused FUSE to fail all future getxattr requests with EOPNOTSUPP.

In addition to fixing that, this diff makes our xattr handling a
little more consistent across inodes:

- setxattr() always fails with ENOSYS
- removexattr() always fails with ENOSYS
- listxattr() is always handled by the corresponding inode class
- getxattr() is always handled by the corresponding inode class

f23902ae6f To avoid self-access deadlocks, at least respond to FUSE before aborting
Summary:
If an edenfs thread accesses an Eden mount, it trips SIGABRT from the
DFATAL, but the SIGABRT can't end the process because one thread is

16c7a8bccc Make RequestData::catchErrors() be a template over T that takes Future<T>&&
Summary:
Goal: change catchErrors() so its param is an rvalue-ref (`template <typename T> ... catchErrors(Future<T>&& fut)`) instead of a forwarding ref (and, if necessary, adjust callsites that passed an lvalue-ref).

Rationale: this is part of T33085035 which is migrating Future::onError() to be rvalue-only. D9505757 codemodded `RequestData::catchErrors()` from `fut.onError()` to `std::move(fut).onError()`. However `fut` was a forwarding-ref so it can actually hold an lvalue-ref.

Timeline/urgency: this diff is a prereq to removing the lvalue-qual overload of Future::onError() (T33085035). (Technically the only part of this that is a prereq to T33085035 is to adjust callers of catchErrors() that pass lvalue Futures, but changing the catchErrors() signature is righteous since it will force a more sensible error-message on any future callers which erroneously pass an lvalue.)

Note: D9505757 landed since it didn't break anything, even though it used `std::move()` on a forwarding-ref. (The lvalue-qual and rvalue-qual overloads of Future::onError() currently have identical semantics; neither invalidates / moves-out its Future object.)

* This dichotomy and confusion has manifested itself by some failures around D7840699 since lvalue-qualification hides that operation's move-out semantics - leads to some use of future operations that are really not correct, but are not obviously incorrect.

34b48e102d Fix data race in Eden fuse driver handling of FUSE_INTERRUPT
Summary:
Fixed a data race in Eden's `FuseChannel` implementation that could cause a crash if a `FUSE_INTERRUPT` request was concurrently on a different thread while a first thread was still launching the original request.

Modified `FakeFuse` to use `SOCK_SEQPACKET` instead of `SOCK_STREAM` so that tests can submit several requests in a pipelined fashion without having to first wait until the previous request was received. This requires the `recvResponse()` function to first read the header with `MSG_PEEK` to determine the response size and then subsequently read the entire message atomically to avoid reading a truncated message.

Added a new unit-test that exercises the `FUSE_INTERRUPT` race condition by sending a series of alternating `FUSE_LOOKUP`/`FUSE_INTERRUPT` requests.

fae2056037 do not require SELinux in GitHub build

I tried to build eden using GitHub version and ran into SELinux issues.
This patch fixed related issues, namely:

- `set(X Y)` sets X to string literal Y. Change it to `set(X ${Y})`.
- `SELINUX_INCLUDE_DIR` could be undefined. Check before use it.
- `./eden/fs/eden-config.h` and `./build/eden/fs/eden-config.h` both exist and
  the former is used. Set include dirs so the latter gets used.

4442ab5e54 increase the timeouts in FuseChannelTest to 1 second
Summary:
Many of the tests in FuseChannelTest.cpp perform blocking waits on Futures.
Previously they used a 100ms timeout.  This could sometimes result in flaky
test failures if the system was under heavy CPU load.  Bumping up the timeout
to 1 second appears to avoid this issue.

dc84937e0b update PrivHelper to support detaching from an EventBase
Summary:
Add a PrivHelper::detachEventBase() method, and rename PrivHelper::start() to
attachEventBase().

This makes it possible to detach a running PrivHelper from its EventBase and
re-attach it to an EventBase later to restart it.  This will be useful in
upcoming diffs to allow performing calls to the PrivHelper before the main
thrift server EventBase has started.

011cc21e52 update privhelper code to use the UnixSocket helper class
Summary:
This updates the privhelper code to use the UnixSocket class for performing
I/O.  This reduces the number of separate implementations of code we have for
sending file descriptors across Unix domain sockets, and also makes the
privhelper APIs non-blocking.

This will make it easier to clean up some of the initialization ordering in
the future.  It will also make it easier to send file descriptors to the
privhelper server, instead of just receiving them.  This may be helpful for
passing a file descriptor to use for logging to the privhelper process, which
will make it easier to fork the privhelper before logging redirection has
occurred.

5305edefc1 update PrivHelper APIs to return Futures
Summary:
Up until now all of the privhelper APIs have been blocking calls.  This
changes the privhelper functions to return Futures, and updates all users of
these APIs to be able to handle the results using Futures.

One benefit of this change is that all existing mount points are remounted in
parallel now during startup, rather than being mounted serially.  The old code
performed a blocking `get()` call on the future returned by
`EdenServer::mount()`.

The privhelper calls themselves are still blocking for now--they block until
complete and always return completed Future objects.  I will update the
privhelper code in a subsequent diff to actually make it asynchronous.

dac67ee976 fix bug in error handling on FUSE channel shutdown
Summary:
Fix the code in FuseChannel::processSession() to look at the errno value
instead of the return value from `read()` when checking for ENODEV.

I accidentally broke this in D7436867.  This wasn't causing any major issues,
since we would still break out of the loop, but it caused us to incorrectly
print warning messages about receiving an unexpected error.  We would also
print this error message once per FUSE thread rather than just once for the
mount point.

I'd misunderstood the point of SharedMutex's upgrade locks -
unless they're used in rare paths, they don't allow for increased

684fa29593 update folly::Init to call folly::initLogging()
Summary:
Update the folly::Init code to define a `--logging` command line flag, and call
`folly::initLoggingOrDie()` with the value of this command line during
initialization.

This is similar to the existing code that initializes the glog library.
(Programs can use both glog and folly logging together in the same program, and
I expect that many programs will do so as parts get converted to folly::logging
and parts remain using glog.)

8e3c09a99a move folly/experimental/logging to folly/logging/
Summary:
Promote the folly logging code out of the experimental subdirectory.
We have been using this for several months in a few projects and are pretty
happy with it so far.

After moving it out of the experimental/ subdirectory I plan to update
folly::Init() to automatically support configuring it via a `--logging` command
line flag (similar to the initialization it already does today for glog).

19122feb19 add a FOLLY_INIT_LOGGING_CONFIG() helper macro
Summary:
Add a macro to help users define the `getBaseLoggingConfig()` function.

While I would prefer to avoid macros if possible, this seems worthwhile.  This
saves 4 or 5 lines of boilerplate code in each program that sets a custom base
logger setting.  It also reduces the likelihood of a developer accidentally
having a typo in the function name, which would still build successfully but
not have the desired results.

03eaf38e0a fix I/O hangs across graceful restart
Summary:
Fix FuseChannel::processSession() to always process all FUSE requests that it
reads.  Previously it checked to see if it should stop immediately after
reading FUSE request.  It was possible for the old process to successfully read
a FUSE request, see that it was supposed to stop, and then exit this worker
thread without ever processing this FUSE request.  This would cause the client
that sent the request to hang indefinitely, since no response would ever be
sent.

086fc9ac30 send FUSE invalidation requests in a separate thread
Summary:
Update FuseChannel to send all invalidation requests in a separate thread.

This eliminates a deadlock that could previously occur during checkout
operations.  The invalidation requests would block until they could acquire the
kernel's inode lock on the inode in question.  However, the inode lock may
already be held by another thread attempting to perform an unlink() or rename()
call.  These FUSE unlink or rename operations would be blocked waiting on
Eden's mount point rename lock, which was acquired by the checkout operation.

Checkout operations now let the invalidations complete asynchronously, but we
wait for all invalidation operations to complete before indicating to our
caller that the checkout has succeeded.

f5f0f5f9c8 use folly::getBaseLoggingConfig() to set base logging config
Summary:
Set the default logging settings by overriding folly::getBaseLoggingConfig()
rather than by setting a default value for the `--logging` command line
argument.

This has two advantages:
- Custom logging settings supplied in the `--logging` argument will now
  combined with the base logging settings rather than completely replacing
  them.  Previously users had to always add "eden=DBG2" to this argument if
  they did not want to drop this setting.
- This will make it possible to move the definion of the `--logging` flag to
  folly::Init and not lose our custom settings for Eden.

a3c582d708 check for std::generic_category when looking for errno errors
Summary:
Add a new utils/SystemError.h header with helper functions to check if a
`std::system_error` contains an errno value.

Most of the code in Eden previously only checked for `std::system_category`
when looking for errno values.  `std::generic_category` is the correct category
to use for errno exceptions, but folly/Exception.h incorrectly throws them as
`std::system_category` today.  This change makes Eden treat either error type
as errno values for now.

bbf0407287 record the FUSE version reported by the kernel

1c46d4c9e1 have FuseChannel return its FD in the completion future
Summary:
Remove the `FuseChannel::stealFuseDevice()` method, and instead change the
session completion future to return the FUSE device FD if it is still valid.

This ensures we only extract the FUSE device when it is still valid: if an
unmount event is being processed by a FUSE worker thread simultaneously with a
call to `FuseChannel::takeoverStop()` the session completion future will return
an empty `folly::File` since the FUSE device has been shut down.

This also helps clarify the synchronization semantics around modification to
the `fuseDevice_` member variable.

171236c532 fix detection of unmount in FuseChannel unit tests
Summary:
FuseChannel::processSession() was missing a return statement after we received
EOF from the FUSE device.  This would cause us to fall through and try
processing the empty buffer as a request.  This would fail, and we would try to
send a reply, which would in turn fail since the FUSE device was closed.

This was only an issue with the unit tests: on real FUSE devices we get an
ENODEV error when reading from the device.  In unit tests we get an EOF
instead.

8eff641bf3 prevent FuseChannel from being destroyed with outstanding requests
Summary:
The FuseChannel destructor previously could be invoked while there are still
outstanding requests, which would cause problems when responses were generated
for these requests.

This makes the FuseChannel destructor private, requiring users to always
allocate FuseChannel objects on the heap and destroy them using a destroy()
method.  The destroy() method still blocks waiting for the FUSE worker threads
to exit, but if there are still outstanding FUSE requests it defers the
deletion of the FuseChannel until they are complete.

The EdenMount class currently couldn't ever destroy FuseChannel objects with
outstanding requests, since it waits for the completion future to fire before
invoking the destructor.  Fixing this behavior is mostly for correctness of the
FuseChannel API and for the benefit of our unit tests.

c5f4ea6f8b update FuseChannel::initialize() to return the completion future
Summary:
Remove the `FuseChannel::getSessionCompleteFuture()` method and instead have
`initialize()` and `initializeFromTakeover()` return the `Future` that can be
used to wait on session completion.

This makes it explicit from an API perspective that this session completion
future will only be invoked if initialization is successful.  It also
eliminates the possibility of anyone calling getSessionCompleteFuture() more
than once.

I also changed the session completion future to use a folly::SemiFuture rather
than a folly::Future, to make it explicit that callers generally should not
execute their callback inline in the same thread where the SemiFuture is
fulfilled.

6cc56a6f81 fix hangs in FuseChannel shutdown
Summary:
The FuseChannel unit tests would sometimes hang because a worker thread would
still be stuck in a blocking read() call.

The issue appears to be that the kernel would often automatically restart the
interrupted read(), so the worker would never wake up.  This switches the code
from using SIGPIPE to wake up, and instead uses SIGUSR2, and installs a handler
for SIGUSR2 with the SA_RESTART flag unset.

It's possible that this was an issue only for the unit tests, where the FUSE
device is a socket.  I'm not sure if the kernel would automatically restart
read operations on a real FUSE device.

There are still theoretically some race conditions here, since
`requestSessionExit()` could be called right after a worker thread checks
`(runState_` and before it enters the blocking `read()` call.  Fixing that
would likely require switching to something like `folly::EventBase` or manually
using epoll.  Fortunately I haven't seen that be an issue in practice so far.

fdecf19d91 update FuseChannel to signal the session complete future immediately
Summary:
This changes FuseChannel to fulfill the session complete future immediately in
the thread where it finishes.  This may occur inside a FUSE worker thread.
It is now up to the caller to use `via()` if they want their callback to run in
a separate thread.

This simplifies the FuseChannel code and also addresses a crash that occurs in
the unit tests sometimes: If the FuseChannel destructor is invoked without
explicitly invoking the FuseChannel, it would schedule the session complete
promise to be fulfilled in a separate EventBase thread.  However, the promise
may then have already been destroyed by the time it can run in the EventBase
thread.

There are still additional synchronization issues to fix in the FuseChannel
tests, but this resolves one problem.

7c505e7933 don't swallow sudo's stdout and stderr in eden daemon
Summary:
If you run `eden daemon` on a machine where sudo needs input, sudo's
output would get redirected to edenfs.log and eden daemon would appear
to hang.  Worse, if you pressed ctrl-C, sudo would remain in the
background and continue to swallow keypresses from the tty, appearing
to somewhat break your shell until it gave up.  The fix is to stop
redirecting stdout and stderr from Python and instead have edenfs
redirect itself into the log if given.

1a9f74b940 fix a race between FuseChannel::startWorkerThreads() and the destructor
Summary:
Update FuseChannel::startWorkerThreads() to return without doing anything if
runState_ indicates that the FuseChannel is currently stopping.

This addresses a race betwen startWorkerThreads() and the destructor.  If the
destructor is invoked in parallel with startWorkerThreads() the destructor can
grab the state_ lock and clear out the workerThreads list first.  This then
causes problems when startWorkerThreads() runs and adds new threads to the
workerThreads list, which then never get joined.

exception does ever attempt to propagate out of these functions.  (Prior to
gcc 8.x, `std::thread()` ends up swallowing the exception backtrace information
if a thread function throws an exception.)

- Update FuseChannel::initializate() to not require an Executor.  Rather than
  performing initialization using the supplied Executor, it simply starts one
  worker thread first and performs initialization there.
- Change the API semantics slightly so that the session complete future is
  invoked only if initialization succeeds.  Previously the session complete
  future could be invoked if initialization failed as well.
- Replace the activeThreads counter with a stoppedThreads counter to determine
  when the session complete future should be invoked.  The previous
  activeThreads behavior was somewhat racy, since the activeThreads counter was
  incremented inside each worker thread, but most places that checked it did
  not wait to ensure that all worker threads had successfully incremented it
  yet.

1b441aa0b4 split up FUSE initialization for fresh start vs takeover
Summary:
Split up the FuseChannel and EdenMount APIs for starting a brand new FUSE
channel vs taking over an existing channel.

These operations are somewhat different as initializing a new FUSE channel
requires performing a negotiation with the kernel that will not complete
immediately.  Therefore these APIs return a Future object.  Taking over an
existing FUSE channel is always an immediate operation, and therefor does not
need to return a Future object.

Summary:
Update FuseChannel to only join its worker threads in its destructor, rather
scheduling a function in the main EventBase thread to join each thread as soon
as it completes.

This makes FuseChannel a bit easier to use: the destructor can now be called at

themselves).  If it is called while the FuseChannel is still running this will
automatically stop the worker threads.

81aa1a31a4 make sure we ignore SIGPIPE in unit tests
Summary:
Ensure that we ignore SIGPIPE in unit tests.  The
`FuseChannel::requestSessionExit()` function sends SIGPIPE to its worker
threads, and expects this to wake up the worker threads if they are stuck
inside a read() call.

In normal program builds folly/Subprocess.cpp causes SIGPIPE to be ignored on
startup.  However, Subprocess.cpp is not necessarily linked into all of our
unit tests.  I haven't tracked down exactly why, but SIGPIPE in the unit tests
seems to kill the entire process only in opt-ubsan builds.

In the future we probably should clean up how requestSessionExit() triggers its
worker threads to exit: the current code is still potentially racy, since the
worker threads could receive the SIGPIPE just after checking `sessionFinished_`
and before calling `read()`, in which case they may go back to sleep rather
than exiting.  However for now this should be a simple fix to get the tests
passing in all build modes.

Today, attaching gdb to edenfs requires sudo. Our hypothesis is that,
even though we drop uid and gid, the SELinux context remains elevated,
preventing ptrace from attaching.

12ac0f7d27 use assert() rather than DCHECK_NE() in the InodeNumber constructor
Summary:
`DCHECK_NE()` unfortunately is not constexpr, so it results in a build error
when used in a constexpr function.  Fortunately `assert()` is allowed in
constexpr functions as of C++14, so use it instead.

d5e3d5dd63 add initial test code for FUSE channel communication
Summary:
This adds a FakeFuse class to simulate a FUSE connection to the kernel, but
that is actually communicating with our userspace test harness code.  This also
adds a FakePrivHelper class which implements the PrivHelper interface but
returns FakeFuse connections rather than real FUSE connections to the kernel.

This will enable us to write unit tests that exercise more of the FUSE and
EdenMount logic, and will also enable us to test error conditions and ordering
behaviors that are difficult to reliably reproduce with a real FUSE mount.

This also includes some very basic tests using this new code.  The code in
fuse/test/FuseChannelTest.cpp creates a FuseChannel using a FakeFuse object,
and the code in inodes/test/FuseTest.cpp creates a full EdenMount object using
FakePrivHelper and FakeFuse.  The tests are pretty similar for now, and only
exercise the FUSE initialization code.  I will expand these tests in subsequent
diffs.

34f78baa21 make it annoying to use InodeNumber as an integer
Summary:
I'm seeing test failures that I have not yet understood and I
thought they might be caused by an implicit conversion from
fusell::InodeNumber to bool.  Well, they're not, but this is how I
discovered that.  I'm not sure I want to land this change, but I'm
going to leave it around until I figure out what's happening with my
other diffs.

21d2b6c46d Remove TARGETS files
Summary:
This removes the TARGETS files from the eden github repository.  The
open source buck build has been failing for several months, since buck
removed support for the thrift_library() rule.

I will potentially take a stab at adding CMake build support for Eden
at some point in the future.

fe1c35f781 move the privhelper APIs into a PrivHelper class
Summary:
Move all of the privhelper functionality into a PrivHelper class.  The
ServerState object now stores the PrivHelper object to use, rather than having
a global singleton.

This will make it easier to stub out the PrivHelper functionality during unit
tests.

my theory is that we're allowing shutdownImpl to free things out from under other
threads before they've all seen this signal and wound down fully.  This is slightly
speculative in that I haven't managed to reproduce this stack trace on my devserver.

89c0c2cb90 clean up fuse init processing
Summary:
This diff moves the mount-time initialization handling
out of the main loop.  This rationale for this is:

* We don't (and shouldn't!) need to process FUSE_INIT for takeover
  processing, and this structure allows us to make stronger assertions
  about our state.
* we can avoid spinning up multiple threads in the (rare!) case that
  the FUSE_INIT fails
* It is now a little harder for exceptions during initialization to
  escape our notice.

In rearranging this stuff, I found a race condition in the worker thread
shutdown; we could erroneously emit a completion event before all of
the threads had been torn down and this resulted in sporadic integration
test failures hitting the assertion for the number of joined threads
in the destructor.
