ef7cbdcf48 Generalize LinePlot to handle any kind of X-axis, not just time. #82
Also split out some common code to a plots module. Fan charts and
scatter plots are still hardcoded to use Time as the X-axis and
duplicate lots of code, but this is a step towards refactoring
everything.

Express all pathfinding costs in units of seconds. #82, #494 (#587)
This is simpler to reason about, allows the penalty for entering a zone
or taking an unprotected turn to be expressed in terms of a time
penalty, and is a step towards adjusting bike/foot routing for elevation
data.

When we later add things like "safety/quietness" for cycling, maybe we
can switch to using a (time, quietness) tuple, and transform into a
single number with a linear combination parameterized by that agent's
preference for time/safety. This change is compatible with that future
idea.

There are behavior changes here, particularly for zones and unprotected
turns. No new maps start gridlocking, and in fact, Rainier starts
working again.

4ef04f5bd1 Change road incline calculations to be stored in RawMap. Previously, the
"rise / run" calculation used the trimmed road center-lines, which don't
match up with the elevation at each original intersection point.

Also handle infinity in the output and reduce the resolution of the
query from every 1m to every 5m.

Regenerate all maps due to the map format change. Try bringing in
elevation data for all of Seattle using the LIDAR source, since
the data quality assessed in eldang/elevation_lookups#12 seems to be
similar, and LIDAR is way faster than contours.

7d2e8409e8 Implement no-through-traffic zones instead by adding a huge cost to crossing into the zones. #555, #574
Regenerate all maps. Gridlock-wise, Rainier and Poundbury broke, but
Wallingford started working again. Acceptable cost for a change this
useful; I'll work on fixing those maps later.

f0de4e4583 Don't use Bezier curves for right/left turns at tiny intersections. They
wind up looping back on themselves in a nonsensical way, causing
vehicles to visually glitch when moving through.

This was started in 081819d86b, but it
used to gridlock 2 maps. All the recent roundabout fixes seems to have
resolved those! And adjusting offstreet parking for two maps.

e6ed2e67de Collapse button styles to be theme specified (no visible changes).
Button colors are now determined by the color scheme, but for now all
schemes are hardcoded to use the same "night" button colors. Read on for
rationale...

Previously, which button colors to use (dark/light) was specified inline
while building the UI.

Eventually we want to live in a world where color scheme determines:
- panel colors
- button colors
- text colors

The theme could already choose panel colors easily enough, but because
the buttons and text were not determined by theme, choosing anything
other than a black or dark grey panel color makes the buttons and text
unreadable.

This PR tackled the themeable "button colors" portion, but all themes
continue to use the "night" colors for now, because using the actual
"day" colors would still make the text unreadable.

next up: themeable text!

The one intentional regression is within the pregame tutorial,
which has always been styled differently from the rest of the app. An
expeditious hack has caused the prev/next/continue buttons to lose their
visible hover state. I'll restore this upon completing the day theme
work.

City names are now disambiguated by a two-letter country code. This

7f0cdace5a Use OpenGL to take screenshots instead of scrot. Benefits:
- Simple -- one OpenGL call and feeding to the awesome image crate
- Faster -- seemingly don't need the sleep() for whatever vsync problems
- Portable -- doesn't use the Linux scrot tool
- I can switch windows and wiggle the cursor with impunity while this runs

One disadvantage: screencaps in S3 are now slightly larger PNGs, because
for some reason, the image/gif feature is super slow, even in release
mode.

For now, this makes the process of screenshot diffing map changes
easier. But it also might help with producing raster tiles for Leaflet. #440

It's a pretty mechanical refactor now, but the hope is that looking at a
bunch of on_mouseover() functions will reveal further refactors more
easily than a bunch of monolithic event() functions.

optimizations avoided serializing Analytics and paths of to-be-created

worth the complexity anymore, because:

1) We don't queue up a bunch of spawn commands anymore; we defer
pathfinding until the last minute anyway.

2) We're not using savestates except for occasional manual debugging.

5ea3c2ba6f Remove support for remote trips, and stop plumbing off-map locations. A
remote trip goes between two locations off-map, specified just by a GPS
coordinate. The trips aren't simulated at all. They were originally
added to support Orestis's pandemic model, to handle transmission
off-map in shared buildings. This work has died off, there are no other
anticipated use cases for remote trips, and they complicate bigger
refactorings. #258

This also has the nice side effect of substantially reducing scenario
size -- huge_seattle from 177MB to 147MB. That unused metadata was
expensive!

1906fb0913 Remove the GetDrawAgents indirection. Originally the UI could pull the
set of agents to draw either from the simulation or from this
"time-traveler" plugin, which would let you rewind sim time. That plugin
is long gone, and it never worked well, because much of the UI would use
the GetDrawAgents to select something, then query the live sim for lots
of details anyway. The plugin never served all of those calls, so the
results would be kind of out-of-sync anyway.

There are some parts of the UI that need to temporarily not draw agents.

* On the web, load different maps by making asynchronous HTTP calls. #21

This is a very strange, specializd approach; it's unclear how it'll
generalize to reading scenarios and prebaked results. Ideally we could
call abstutil::read_binary as we currently do and somehow hide this async
trickery underneath, but I'm not sure how yet. In the meantime, this
moves us forward with the hack well-contained.

bb6dbb0731 Switch from stdweb to websys for #21.
When I added web support in February, it was easier to get started with
stdweb, since it has the nice cargo web tool. However, stdweb is
unmaintained, winit is deprecating support for it, and the next steps
for web (downloading maps dynamically) have better support for web-sys.

With Alvin's guidance, I got
https://github.com/dabreegster/minimal_websys_winit_glow_demo working
first. This PR cuts A/B Street over too.

I tested abst and the widgetry demo in both native and web. The only
major regression from stdweb is the canvas placement and size. I
attempted some fixes, but at this point, I'll leave it as a smaller
followup instead.

Pedestrian crossing time (#346)
* Fixed ui being able to select traffic light times that are shorter than the time it takes to walk across the crosswalk

* Fixing operands and renaming

* Fixed spinner out of bounds issue
Traffic light generation now, ensures that there is enough time to cross the crosswalk
And enforces the minimum time duration

* Cargo +nightly fmt

* Request fixes: https://github.com/dabreegster/abstreet/pull/346
Still need some things to clarify:
    Spinner checks on increment/decrement
Calling enforce_minimum_crosswalk_time inside get_possible_policies, requires the removal or modification of the validation function

* Moved enforce_minimum_crosswalk_time inside get_possible_policies
Now runs stage_time_validation at the end of get_possible_policies and removes invalid policies
Could do the same with the validation function as well?

* Fixing import order

00fb0ef8cd Cleanup dropdown - stop using unicode "down arrow"
We were drawing "pop-up" style buttons in several places, using
copy/pasted logic - which was simple enough when using a unicode glyph.

But we want to use a different glyph which isn't in our font. Further,
using an svg like this gives us finer grained control around the layout
around the button "handle" than we could get with just space characters.
